Bias or Fair Play? GPAA NEC Under Fire Over Election Campaign Restrictions
The leadership of the Ghana Physician Assistants Association (GPAA) has been accused of selectively enforcing campaign rules after barring Francis Appiah from using national platforms for his election campaign while allowing other candidates to do so.
According to GPAA’s National Executive Committee (NEC), Appiah is not a dues-paying member and is therefore ineligible to campaign. However, this claim has been met with skepticism, particularly from his supporters in the Francis Appiah Movement (FAM).
“If he’s not a dues-paying member, why was he being encouraged to participate in the internal elections?†questioned a FAM representative. The group sees this move as an orchestrated attempt to silence their candidate and suppress the “Hope Agenda†manifesto from reaching GPAA members.
As the elections approach, members are calling for clarity and a fair playing field to ensure that all candidates receive equal treatment. The NEC is yet to officially respond to these concerns.
