Minister of Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts Engages with Ghana New Zealand Chamber of Commerce Delegation
The Minister for Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts, Hon. Abla Dzifa Gomashie, on June 4 met with a delegation from the Ghana New Zealand Chamber of Commerce to explore potential collaborations aimed at advancing the tourism, culture, and creative arts sectors.
Welcoming the delegation, Hon. Gomashie expressed optimism about deepening bilateral cooperation, particularly in the promotion of tourism and cultural exchange between Ghana and New Zealand. She underscored the need for stakeholders to engage with government institutions strategically, with clear value propositions that align with national development priorities.
The meeting also explored opportunities within the fashion and broader cultural industries, especially where traditional Ghanaian expressions and heritage hold international appeal. The Minister acknowledged that while some creative businesses have yet to fully harness local market potential, the Ministry remains committed to supporting capacity-building and professional development initiatives that facilitate sustainable growth and market access.
Mr. Isaac Koumessina, Executive Director of the Ghana New Zealand Chamber of Commerce, noted that the visit aimed to formally introduce the Chamber to the Ministry and explore partnership opportunities.
“As part of our mission, we are eager to understand the Ministry’s strategic priorities in tourism and cultural promotion, and align our efforts to support Ghana’s economic and creative development,” he said.
The meeting concluded with a shared commitment to develop actionable strategies that promote cultural diplomacy, enhance trade and tourism, and foster lasting partnerships between Ghana and New Zealand.
Also in attendance were Dr. Geoffery Tamakloe, Director of Tourism, and Mr. Divine Kwame Owusu Ansah, Director for Culture and Creative Arts at the Ministry.
