Some aggrieved members of the National Democratic Congress in the Agona East constituency of the Central Region have withdrawn a court suit they filed against the NDC party.

The decision was made after the Minority Leader and MP for the Ajumako/Enyan/Essiam constituency, Hon. Dr Casiel Ato Forson urged them to withdraw the case and resolve the matter internally.

The case was being heard at the Agona Swedru High Court presided over by Justice Kwame Polley.

The Plaintiffs led by Mr Francis Kwabena Baidoo sued the NDC, the executives in the Agona East constituency and the Electoral Commission.

Their suit was initiated after the constituency Executive elections which was held in October, 2022.

According to the Plaintiffs, after being elected into office, a directive from the former General Secretary Johnson Aseidu Nketia annulled the election.

Another election was conducted in the constituency which they lost.

They subsequently secured injunction against the newly elected executives to prevent them from holding themselves as constituency executives.

However, they alleged that the Regional executives instructed the newly elected executives to suspend the aggrieved members.

They later cited the Central Regional Chairman, Constituency Secretary and the Newly elected Constituency Chairman Samuel Oscar for contempt of court as the matter was already in court.

After two years of court hearing, they have agreed to withdraw the case from the court and settle it internally.
