In a colorful ceremony held at the Akyem Batabi Chief’s Palace in the Eastern Region, Nana Yaa Boafowaa, formerly Maabaawa Hemaa, was promoted to Gyaase Hemaa of Akyem Batabi on December 26.
The ceremony was marked by traditional rituals and festivities, symbolizing her new role in the traditional authority.
During her enstoolment, Nana Yaa Boafowaa swore the oath of allegiance to Barima Oppong Kyekyeku, Chief of Akyem Batabi, pledging to serve the chief and the traditional authority with dignity, humbleness, and discipline.
In her address, she stated, “Today that I have been promoted to Gyaase Hemaa, I pledge to serve with every effort. I will make sure that we will come together as one people to serve with one purpose, especially the female and the youth of Akyem Batabi.”
Barima Oppong Kyekyeku accepted her promotion and advised her to desist from any act that would portray indiscipline to the traditional authorities.
He urged her to maintain good relations with everyone, irrespective of her status, saying, “Be in good terms with each and every one.”
