JEREMIAH MACLEAN JNR JM GRADUATES FROM LAW SCHOOL

Central University on Wednesday, 19th, held its 24th congregation and graduation ceremony, with one of the notable moments being the achievement of Jnr. JM, popularly known within political circles. He graduated with a distinction in Law after three years of postgraduate study, earning recognition for his hard work and focus.

Jnr. JM, who started from humble beginnings as a tomato seller, has steadily worked his way through his studies. During his LLB programme, he performed well in Criminal Law, Contract Law, Law of Tort, Commercial Law, Intellectual Property Law, Natural Resources Law, Jurisprudence, Company Law, Equity, and Land Law. His consistent effort and dedication helped him succeed across all these areas.

Beyond the LLB, Jnr. JM has a strong academic background. He holds a BSc in Agriculture, an MBA in Finance, an MA in Strategic Leadership, and a Graduate Diploma in Law from the University of Laws in the UK. He is also currently pursuing an LLM in Energy Law. This combination of qualifications gives him knowledge across different fields and strengthens his professional skills.

In his career, Jnr. JM works as a banker and trade expert with the Ghana Exim Bank. His legal training is expected to support his work in areas where law, banking, trade, and policy intersect. He has also expressed his intention to become a lawyer who helps society through pro bono work and contributes to the development of Ghana’s legal system.

Jnr. JM acknowledged several individuals who supported him throughout his studies. He thanked Professor Kwamina Ahwoi, a Professor of Law, for providing lecture notes on Jurisprudence; the Dean of the Law School, Dr. Degraft-Josiah Quansah, for his counsel; and Professor Samuel Kwasi Dartey-Baah, the Vice-Chancellor, for his guidance. He also expressed gratitude to his parents, Mr. Samuel Maclean and Mrs. Esther Tetteh, as well as to all his friends and family who supported him along the way.

His story reflects the expectation that young lawyers should combine knowledge with honesty and service. At a time when people are calling for fairness and accountability, graduates like Jnr. JM are looked to for guidance and to help strengthen public trust in the legal system.

The ceremony was officiated by Dr. Mensa Otabil, who encouraged graduates to live with integrity and dedicate themselves to service that benefits the legal profession and society.
