Salaga South MP Assists Baba Jamal Tahiru to Undergo Surgery at Korle-Bu

The Member of Parliament for Salaga South, Hon. Hajia Zuwera Ibrahimah, has extended financial assistance of GHC 13,650 to support Mr. Baba Jamal Tahiru, a 47-year-old native of Daryl-Salam, a suburb of Salaga, to undergo surgery at the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital in Accra.

Mr. Tahiru has been diagnosed with High Neuroendocrine Carcinoma of the Sinonasal Cavity, a rare and aggressive cancer affecting the nasal passages and surrounding tissues.

A delegation led by Alhaji Adam Kawurbi, a member of the NDC Constituency Council of Elders, together with the Salaga South NDC Constituency Chairman, Mr. Haruna Abdul Aziz, presented the cheque to the patient’s family in Salaga on behalf of the MP.

Presenting the donation, Alhaji Kawurbi explained that the MP’s attention was drawn to Mr. Tahiru’s condition by Mr. Rashad Mahama, and upon learning of the situation, Hon. Hajia Zuwera immediately offered to cover the full cost of the surgery. He said the MP, known for her compassion and responsiveness, was deeply touched by the case and pledged her full support to ensure that the patient receives timely medical care.

He further conveyed the MP’s goodwill message to the family, wishing Mr. Tahiru a successful operation and a speedy recovery.

Receiving the cheque on behalf of the family, Khalifa Sheikh Mohammed Haafiz Ibrahim, head of the Mallam Baba family, expressed deep gratitude to Hon. Hajia Zuwera for her kindness and timely intervention. He described the gesture as a reflection of genuine care and concern for the well-being of her people and prayed for Allah’s blessings upon her.

Mr. Baba Jamal Tahiru also expressed appreciation to the MP, saying her support had brought great relief to him and his family. He thanked all those who played a role in facilitating the donation, particularly Alhaji Kawurbi and Chairman Haruna Abdul Aziz, for their encouragement and assistance.

The presentation was witnessed by members of the Salaga South NDC Constituency Executive Committee, Branch Executives from the Mallam Baba Polling Station, and staff from the Office of the MP, who accompanied the delegation.

The gesture by Hon. Hajia Zuwera has since been widely commended by members of the Salaga South community. They see it as demonstration of her commitment to the welfare and progress of her constituents.
