NKORANZA SOUTH NDC CHAIRMAN ALLEGEDLY DIVERTS FERTILIZERS MEANT FOR FARMERS
“I ASKED QUESTIONS; I DIDN’T PASS JUDGMENT. ANSWER THE QUESTIONS.”
I am addressing this statement to the Ghanaian media, particularly Neat FM, Happy FM, Accra FM, Media General and MyAfricaBlogger, because I believe the issues I have raised concerning the alleged handling of fertilizer meant for farmers in Nkoranza South deserve public attention and, more importantly, proper answers.
Let me state this clearly from the beginning:
I have asked questions. I have not declared anybody guilty.
Unfortunately, instead of dealing with the questions, the matter has been turned into personal attacks against me.
Why?
If the allegations are untrue, answer the questions and produce the records. That is how these matters are settled—not through insults, intimidation or attacks on the person asking the questions.
THE QUESTIONS I ASKED ARE VERY SIMPLE
- Which fertilizer associated with the late John Dor was allegedly sold or diverted?
Who was involved?
There are also claims that a prominent political figure was allegedly asking behind the scenes whether an aspirant had received his “share.”
Who was that person, and what exactly was this “share” about?
These are questions that can be answered.
- During the transition period, who acted as MCE of Nkoranza South and supervised or participated in the distribution of the fertilizer?
Where are the records?
Who were the beneficiaries?
How much fertilizer was received, and how much was distributed?
Let the documents speak.
- There is an allegation that the Chairman told a party member that he did not use the money alone, and that part of the money was allegedly used to lobby for the MCE position.
I am asking the Chairman directly:
Is this allegation true or false?
If it is false, say so publicly.
If there is evidence that the allegation is false, produce it.
If there is evidence supporting the allegation, then the appropriate authorities should examine it.
- John Dor may be dead, but records do not die.
It has been alleged that records relating to his transactions are in the hands of investigators.
If those records exist, then let the appropriate authorities examine them and establish the facts.
I am not a court of law, and I am not claiming to be one.
I am simply saying: investigate.
- There is also a question concerning fertilizer the Chairman allegedly claimed an Honourable instructed him to seize from certain individuals.
Who gave that instruction?
How much fertilizer was seized?
From whom?
Where was it taken?
And where did it eventually end up?
Again, these are not complicated questions.
WHY ARE QUESTIONS BECOMING A PROBLEM?
What worries me is that every time someone asks questions about accountability, the person asking the questions becomes the target.
That approach cannot help our party.
I am an NDC member, and I care about the party. But loving the NDC does not mean we should stop asking questions when something does not appear clear.
Party loyalty should never mean blind loyalty to individuals.
The NDC belongs to its members, supporters and the Ghanaian people—not to individual office holders or political factions.
If there is nothing wrong with the fertilizer distribution, then there should be nothing to fear from an investigation.
MY MESSAGE TO THE CHAIRMAN AND HIS SUPPORTERS
I am not interested in fighting anybody.
I am not interested in destroying anybody’s reputation.
But I will not sit down quietly because people have decided to attack me personally for asking questions.
If I am wrong, prove me wrong with facts.
Don’t insult me.
Don’t threaten me.
Don’t change the subject.
Bring the documents.
That is the simplest way to end this matter.
A WORD OF CAUTION
I also want to appeal to all sides to exercise restraint.
We are one political family. Nkoranza South is bigger than any individual, and the NDC is bigger than any constituency chairman, aspirant or activist.
Let us not allow this matter to create unnecessary tension and division within the party.
But at the same time, don’t push the matter too far and expect people to remain silent when legitimate questions are being raised.
I have said what I know and asked what I believe deserves answers.
Now, let the facts come out.
I am ready to engage the media on this matter and provide clarification on the questions I have raised.
I asked questions. Answer the questions.
Don’t attack the messenger because you don’t like the message.
And as we say:
“Mo akyi gu hɔ.”
