NPP Chairmanship Race Heats Up: Paul Afoko’s Bid Welcomed

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) is set for a keenly contested national chairmanship election, and former National Chairman Paul Afoko’s decision to contest has been welcomed by some party stalwarts. Albert Nuamah, Chairman of the NPP’s Atiwa East constituency, has described Afoko’s bid as timely and necessary.

According to Nuamah, Afoko’s experience and leadership skills would be invaluable to the party as it seeks to recapture power in the 2028 general elections. “We need numbers to recapture power in 2028,” Nuamah stated. “If Paul Afoko has been reinstated into the party and has the zeal to serve the party again by vying for the same position, it is good news.”

The NPP chairmanship race has attracted several high-profile aspirants, including former Energy Minister Boakye Agyarko and former Communication Minister Ursula Owusu Akuffo. Nuamah believes this competition would be beneficial for the party, as it would allow the best candidate to emerge and lead the party to victory.

The Atiwa East constituency Chairman also urged party faithful to put aside their differences and work towards the party’s victory in the 2028 elections. “We can’t afford to lose the 2028 elections,” he emphasized.

Afoko’s reinstatement and subsequent decision to contest the national chairmanship position have been seen as a boost to the party’s leadership race. As the election approaches, all eyes would be on the party’s delegates to see who would emerge victorious and lead the NPP into the 2028 general elections.
