Monde Hope Foundation Rolls Out Child Safety Campaign in the Central Region
Children have a fundamental right to safety; however, this right is still not optimally implemented across many parts of Ghana. According to a 2024 publication by the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) School of Public Health, approximately 1,360 children lose their lives annually, highlighting a critical public health and social concern.

In response to this alarming situation, Mondè Hope Foundation, in partnership with the Gomoa East District Assembly and the National Health Students Association of Ghana, has embarked on an important child safety initiative in the Central Region, aimed at sensitizing children to potential dangers, particularly those related to water bodies.
The campaign seeks to educate pupils on safety precautions, risk awareness, and emergency response, while also empowering them to make informed decisions that can protect their lives. Special emphasis is being placed on preventing drowning, which remains one of the leading causes of accidental deaths among children in vulnerable communities within the district.
Speaking on the initiative, the Chief Executive Officer of the foundation, Ms. Anna Kumeh Blamondee, who also serves as Vice President of the National Health Students Association of Ghana, called on leaders, policymakers, parents, and guardians to take collective responsibility in safeguarding children.
She stressed the need for stronger safety policies, improved community awareness, and closer supervision of children, especially in areas close to rivers, lagoons, ponds, and other water bodies.
The foundation believes that sustainable child protection requires collaboration among government institutions, schools, families, and civil society organizations. Through this campaign, Mondè Hope Foundation aims to reduce preventable deaths and promote a culture of safety and vigilance among children and adults alike.
The initiative forms part of the foundation’s broader commitment to child welfare, public health advocacy, and community development across Ghana.
