Damongo NDC Youth Petition President Mahama for Removal of West Gonja MCE

The youth wing of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in Damongo has petitioned President John Dramani Mahama for the removal of the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) of the West Gonja Municipal Assembly, accusing him of unfairness and actions that are dividing the party.

A copy of the petition, intercepted by Project Newspaper, stated that the MCE has been favouring members of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) while ignoring loyal NDC members who have stood by the party through thick and thin.

According to the petition, the MCE has been sharing government resources and awarding contracts mostly to NPP members and sympathizers. The youth say this has left many NDC supporters and financiers feeling sidelined and unappreciated.

They also complained that the MCE has failed to involve NDC youth groups in his activities and programmes, making them feel abandoned in the running of the municipality.

The petition further accused the MCE of associating with people who openly campaigned against the NDC during the 2024 general elections, a move the youth believe has weakened trust within the party.

In addition, they alleged that the MCE ignores the concerns of the Constituency Chairman and other party executives, creating tension and frustration among grassroots members.

The youth insist that the MCE’s actions have caused deep division and must not be allowed to continue. They are therefore appealing to President Mahama to appoint a more loyal, fair, and unifying NDC member to lead the West Gonja Municipal Assembly.

At the time of this report, no official response had been received from the Office of the President.
